A wireless mesh network is a communication network topology where all devices (network nodes) are interconnected with each other. It enables direct wireless communication between different nodes. All nodes can send and receive data and also re-route data to other devices. Flat network topology means that there is no one central point of failure as each node can act as an end device and also as a router. This ensures true self-configuring and self-healing network capabilities which mean that solution works out of the box and in case of some node failure whole network is still operational. Distributed computing provides exceptionally reliable operation as nodes work based on saved high-level rules thus luminaire dimming schedules are stored in the luminaire controller. So, single luminaire operation is not controlled anymore by a central server or central network device by luminaire controller itself.
